“War never changes”

I bought myself a new headset because my old one had a glitchy cable and sounded really bad (:

And also:

Fallout

Steel series Siberia Elite Prism, really good sound. Gunshots kinda make you deaf.
And how pretty are these!

“They call me the Shipwrecker”   Goblin pirates

This is my Mordheim pirate crew, for use with the airship I have been constructing (which I really need to finish by the way, not too much work left on it).

Consisting of Rackhams with the edition of GW’s Goblin Doom Divers, because I think they’re cool.

The original goblin pirate crew are these nine (plus the cannon). Happy I managed to find these :) they don’t show up for sale very often and they fit perfectly for my airship.

I had this Trigger of Kaurik that I got a while before the pirates, that seemed right as part of the pirate crew. The goblins monocular broke off though and I can’t find the missing piece, going to have to sculpt one to fix it.

The Black Troll will be a part of the crew as well.

This one is actually a recast, I don’t really like that sort of thing, but with a company that doesn’t exist anymore I think its ok. I woud rather buy the original (also for the collectors value) but I havent found it anywhere so I settled for this.

“The Dragon goes to war”

These are my Selsyms, sword troops for Cynwall.

Three belong to the war-staff, together with a musician, standard bearer and a captain.  The rest are part of the regular troops box, but I’m missing a few. I think I have all the sculpts but there should be 11 of them.

I think I have 10 whole ones (missing one in the pictures that needs to be stripped of ols paint), and one without feet cause I broke it when I was removing the old bases and now I cant find the base with the feet on it. So theres 3 missing in total, counting staff and troop.

Might be lying around somewhere around my desk, or I might have bought the war-staff without the regular warriors, Im not sure. Doubt I’ll be needing them anyway.

The first trial one.

I used the same colors as on the Azure Hunters for the armour. Mixed pink/purplish grey at the bottom and thin layers of white on top. Gave the shield a gradient from grey to pink to make the surface feel a bit less flat (that was the idea anyway).

The progress so far, pants and bases are done for all of them.

Just the endless layering of whites left to go before painting details.

“To rip the sky like Lightening: part 2”

Finished all the Azure Hunters a few weeks ago. Finally got around to writing a post ;)

Got some in progress photos.

Painted one piece of armour at a time on all five of the remaining ones. Worked really well actually, managed to get the colors on each one pretty unison.

The hair was a bit tricky, I used Nihilakh Oxide from GW as one of the colors. Not good for painting surfaces with as its so thin but I love the color of it. I’m gonna have to find a matching one thats a bit thicker.

Compared to the Kestrels in color:

Quite far off in color but should be fine.

I was thinking of maybe painting the red sashes on the Kestrels in blues, but I didnt think it really suited the other colors. Probably make them orange instead. Some of the other units will be orange as well.

All done!

I painted some pants on them tho, contrary to the Rackham promo ones, cause they looked kinda ridiculous without any :P

Glued some flock and grass tufts onto the bases, might add someting else to them later, once the whole army is done.

One of them is missing a foot so I hid it in a tuft (:

“To rip the sky like lightening”

Did a color test on one of my Azure Hunters from the Cadwallon army. Keeping these very pale, shades of blue and purple.

Hoping I can tie these together nicely with the Kestrels that are green, brown and red. Going to mix the army between these color schemes I think. Dark to light. I would like to add some yellow to this too, together with purple I think, gonna try it out anyway.

I sorted them up, left will be lightests and right darkest. Azure Hunters somewhat in the middle.

Not sure about the Novas and Pulsar.

These arent great photos, at all. But you get the idea. Theyre a bit lighter and slightly less blue toned irl. Im happy with how the colors turned out tho. No real inspiration for these colorwise, except the hair which is the same color as the concept art from Rackham.

Then i just went with what felt fitting. The dress is painted in one of the blue hues I used for the hair (trollblood base from P3).

Primed white and painted with very thin layers of dilluted paint.

Batch painting these too. Says something about my batch skills tho that I started another group before finishing the first one.

Oh well.

“Subtley is the virtue of nobles”

I got some paint on my Cynwall Kestrels \o/

Trying to do some batch painting on these, never managed that before cause I get kinda bored.

I think these will be the darkest ones in the army, colorwise, want to keep the rest of them very light. I think it suits them.

Used this painting by Stephanie Law for inspiration:

Lighter on top and gradually darker. I used red for the sash tho, tho break off all the green and browns.

Did pretty good with the batch thing I think, made for some faster progress than usual. Though I havent been as meticulous as I usually am. More like really slow speedpainting.

This one is the first, tried out the colors on him before I painted the rest of them.

I hadnt decided on the armour here yet, but I made a test on another mini yesterday that I think turned out nice, gonna paint it very pale. Hopefully it will make for a nice contrast.

Not sure if I will give them all the same haircolor, reddish brown goes nicely with the green but might be too uniform. I’ll probably keep them kinda dark tho.

“The wind whispers to me it’s secrets”

Have been working on my Cynwall army for Confrontation, basing all of them and am planning to paint them up.

I didnt feel like making my own bases for all of them since I have quite a lot of them. So I bought some resin base from Micro Arts and made a silikon mold of them so I could copy them.

I would have liked to buy bases for all of them cause I think they make really nice bases, but it kinda got expensive so moulding them was a better alternative. Im gonna be buying some other style bases for other armies/minis though :)

I didn’t get any cavalry bases ad the only cavalry is the elemental unicorn. I just made a scrap-base out of 40mm base pieces glued onto a GW cavalry base.

I love the pose on the unicorn, kinda flying but still very static. Dreamy.

These are the bases I bought:

933e9229de44617d3b729aeda8fa45c7

fc951fce1c9c12ddbba1d01df26933f3

6d9c7f4e4611c9c40b2cd9d24505122a

I really liked the styles of these base, with the ruin stones on them. I think scenic bases often feel a bit too busy with so much terrain on them but these felt like they had a really good balance. Kinda flat but still nice ruins.

I decided to put all of them on the same six different bases (since they are kinda flat anyway). I can just vary them with some different anounts of vegetation. Might add some flowers and etched ferns to them.
Painted the base on this one to try out the colors. I kept the same theme as the originals with white/blue stones on the ruins. I made mine a little darker tho, more pronounced blue.

I think it turned out really nice. Added some greenery to it, think ill ad some kind of flowers too. Im considering having some kind of red element on the bases, but I’ll see what might be fitting once I’ve got some of the minis painted.

“M’aiq knows much, and tells some. M’aiq knows many things others do not.”

Me and my friends have a plan to play Elder Scrolls: Skyrim as a miniature game. Something similar to Mordheim with smaller warbands.

We’re gonna need to make some terrain of course :> snowy nordic landscapes.

I bought some cool women from Red Box games, think they’d fit right in with the world. Theyre really quite small compared to other minis, but very finely detailed and excellent proportions.

Also got a mix of oddities to mix up the warband, or maybe use as some kind of NPC’s in the world.

A barbarian (I guess, could make a good assassin maybe?), a witch, a sorceress, a bard and a male elf.

Also got some cats from the game Alkemy, a friend of mine had a bunch he traded with me for some space marine stuff. I really love these!

I’ gonna make me a Khajiit warband. Or maybe a mixed one with nords and cats. Just need to find a fitting Argonian ;>

Theyre quite a bit bigger than Red Boxe’s minis but theyre so perfect for Khajiit so it doesnt really matter. The big one in the middle might be too large but I think the others are a good enough match in size.

“and I will walk through woods again – Horncrowned, like my Father”

Testing out some colors for my Confrontation armies.

These are some Daïkinees.

I want to paint them in pretty strong colors, Im thinking red-orange-yellow and purple. And some green details.

Ive just been splashing some color in different combinations on two of the warriors, trying to decide where to use what.

Hardest part was the colors turned out almost a bit too bright. The contrast between light and dark felt a bit too bland when using only reds for the armour. And the red came out so strongly it kinds felt cartoony. In a bad way.

Im not very good at dulling out colors it would seem. Or I’m just out of practice with painting.

But I think I found a good armour color for these, quite happy with the shoulderpad here. Im gonna have to paint a whole warrior to see how it hold up with the orange and purple.

Might need to make it a more obvious red so the original color concept doesnt get lost.

But so far so good.

Also noticed a tiny forest has sprung up in my wet palette. Felt a bit bad rinsing it off but I suspect it’s not great for panting.

Edit

From the eternal sea He rises, creating armies on either shore

Some favourites of mine.
No Rackhams because I really can’t be expected to choose among them.

Thief of Hearts by Darksword miniatures

I love this one, she’s got such beautiful wings. They came all flat tho so I’ve bent them a bit for a more dynamic look.

2015-02-21 13.06.28

Another Thief of Hearts, 2012 edition I think (?) one released every year.

2015-02-21 13.06.39

Very nice deep-sea queen with pet octopus.

2015-02-21 13.07.16

Illyad games

I don’t remember her name, probably the best barbarian miniature I’ve seen. Makes me think of Slaine.

2015-02-21 13.08.34

Bomb Pilot

I recently got this but I can’t remember wherever from. I think she’s cool anyway.

2015-02-21 13.10.46

Steampunk Dorothy from Guild of Harmony

Yeah, I’ve got Ariel, Tinkerbell and Alice too :>
Very finely detailed minis. I’m gonna have to make some cool bases for them.

Morvahna by Privateer Press

I just love that goat mount. Reminds me of the Talbuks in Outlands ;>

Simon miniature sculptor

His own range of minis. I have most of them, ridiculously fine detailing.

Forgotten Warrior by Enigma

I kinda love anything with horns so yea, had to buy this one. I like his whole outfit, very warrior of chaos but kinda different.

2015-02-21 13.09.00

Chaos Sorcerer from Forgeworld

I thinks he’s pretty. He’s got a pet too, looks kinda like a pile of body parts thrown and fused together. Not as pretty.

2015-02-21 13.11.10

A bird-god-demon from Andrea.

54mm.

2015-02-21 13.08.17

Goblin Shaman

I don’t remember where this one is from. I think I have another model from the same company though, can’t remember wich one.
Nice model anyway, really like the proportions, it’s kinda small.

2015-02-21 13.10.20

Troll from Imbrian Arts

I’ve got a whole bunch of Jodi’s goblins too :>

2015-02-21 13.17.44

Infinity

I have a Combined army but I got this just because it looked like it would be fun to paint.

2015-02-21 13.09.36

Elspeth on Carmine dragon by Forgeworld

Of course. I’ve been looking at this one for a long time, finally bought it.
I’m not all in with the dragons wings, been thinking of exchanging those for others if I find any that would be suitable.

2015-02-21 13.13.01

I should get to painting some of these.
